Granted, one of the main characters (the Cinderella of the story) is introduced in said details, but it could have been done better. After those first heady pages (unfortunately), the pace slowed down significantly, caught up in too many details about readying a home for the return of its long-absent owners. As it is, however, there's a terribly romantic and forbidden kiss on the deck of a ship sailing from India to England (very Titanic-esque). Had Cinders and Sapphires had a less provocative beginning, I likely would not have made it past the first few pages. I probably should also have looked at the size of the print (ridiculously large in order to make the book seem more substantial), but hindsight and all that.
